Event Details

Have you thought about becoming a member of the dance team, or wanted to get involved with ceremonies, but have thought that you don’t know enough to do so and would look like a fool? Maybe you’re a seasoned arrowmen in one or both of these categories, or you just want to get your feet wet, this event will give you a greater understanding of the cultural aspect that the Order of the Arrow dwells upon. Well, the Section American Indian Activities (AIA) Seminar is the thing to do. It will jumpstart your knowledge of both Dance and Ceremonies.

Friday night, everyone will get a taste of AIA culture by sampling Fry-Bread, and we ask that each participant bring a dish to share because we will be having a pot-luck Cracker-barrel! If you will not be there Friday night, then you don’t need to bring a dish…..although you could eat it on your trip in if coming from a distant place. All other meals will be cooked and provided for you. There will be games and maybe even a movie going on Friday night as people arrive, if arriving Friday night. There will be a Mini-Powwow on Saturday following dinner. It may just be one of the top 3 best section events in Section C6b!

Now, here’s the critical information that you need to know. The seminar will take place February 3-5th at the Schiewetz Leadership Training Center at Cricket Holler,6045-6425 Frederick Pike, Dayton, OH 45414. The cost will be $30, and will need to be paid by January 20th. This allows us time to purchase everything and know how many people we need to plan for. We will not be accepting walk-ups. Due to limitations on the number of beds, please contact Terry Aufermann at hi.terry.a@gmail.com before registering. We only have limitations in terms on the number of people who attend if you are not willing to work with us, other than fire code. Please make sure to bring a medical form. Check-in will be open as early as 7:30pm Friday night, and our goal is to have everyone venturing home by 10am on Sunday.

Please take note of the training schedule before you answer questions.
